RustyWorks RCE Guides

Economy & Shop

Give your server its own currency, reward players for playing, and build a Discord-native shop they can browse and buy from — all configurable from your dashboard or from /eco config in Discord.

Time: 10 mins to set up a shop
Difficulty: Intermediate
Requirements: Head Admin+, account linking

Every linked player gets a wallet in your server's own currency (you pick the name — "eScrap" is the default). They earn it by claiming a daily reward, and can spend it in a shop you build yourself: pick items, kits or Discord roles, set your own prices, and RustyWorks handles delivery. Everything here is stored per Rust server, so each server you run can have a completely different shop and currency name.

⚠️

The shop is switched off by default

Even after you've built categories and products, nothing is purchasable until you turn on Shop Enabled in Economy Settings. This is deliberate — it means you can build your whole shop in private before opening it to players.

Dashboard Settings

Open Economy & Shop on your dashboard and pick a server to configure. All of the following save immediately and take effect for both the dashboard and /eco in Discord — they share the same data.

Building the Shop

Your shop is actually three independent shops sharing the same rules — Normal, VIP (gated by the VIP Shop Role) and Kits & Roles — plus a separate, pre-built Personal Quarrys shop that isn't edited here. Each of the three editable shops can hold up to 10 categories, and each category up to 20 products.

Product types

TypeHow it works
Item / EntityName, price, an optional cooldown, and the RCON command to run — must contain the placeholder {event_user}, which is swapped for the buyer's in-game name at purchase time. You can also set a Max Purchase Qty per player (only Owner/Co-Owner/Head Admin can set this above 0).
KitPicked from a dropdown of kits you've already registered by running /kits grab in Discord. Delivers with kit givetoplayer automatically — nothing to write yourself.
Discord RolePicked from your server's role list, with an optional duration in minutes (0 = permanent).
💡

Start from a template

Running /eco shoptemplate in Discord bulk-fills the Normal shop with a ready-made set of categories and products — choose from Basic Resources, T2 Weapons, Farming & Teas, Base Building, or two full pre-built shops (Full Shop V1: 10 categories / 75 items, Full Shop V2: 9 categories / 61 items). It's a fast way to launch, then fine-tune prices from the dashboard afterwards.

How Purchases Are Delivered

What happens after checkout depends on what was bought:

1

Items go into a Shop Bag

Buying a physical item doesn't deliver it immediately — it's charged to the wallet and placed into the player's Shop Bag, a holding pen of everything they've bought but not collected. Buying the same item again stacks the bag entry rather than creating a duplicate line.

2

Players claim their Bag in-game

Using /eco bag in Discord and pressing Claim Bag In-Game, or using the in-game "Here, Take This" emote — either way, the player must currently be online in-game for the claim to go through.

3

Kits and roles deliver instantly

These skip the Bag entirely. A kit fires its RCON command the moment the purchase is confirmed; a Discord role is added straight away through Discord itself, no in-game presence required.

🛠️

A failed kit delivery still shows "success"

If the in-game RCON command for a kit purchase fails to run for any reason, the player is still charged and told the purchase succeeded — there's no automatic refund. If a player reports a kit purchase that never arrived, check your server's RCON connection and refund them manually with /eco give.

Posting a Shop Front

Instead of players typing /eco shop every time, you can post a permanent Shop Front — a self-updating embed in a channel of your choice that always reflects your current prices and stock. You can only have one Shop Front per Discord server at a time; remove the existing one before posting a new one. Because the embed is refreshed by the bot on a short polling cycle rather than updated instantly, a price change can take up to about 20 seconds to show up on the live message.

If the Shop Front message ever gets deleted manually in Discord, use Force Clear Bugged Shopfront on the dashboard (or /eco shopfront remove) before trying to post a fresh one.

Discord Commands

All of the following are subcommands of /eco. Most require the player to have already linked their in-game account. Staff-only commands need Head Admin or above (as configured in your general staff roles); a few — bag administration, wiping money server-wide — require Owner, Co-Owner or Head Admin specifically.

/eco shoptemplate currently has no staff check

Unlike every other shop-editing command, /eco shoptemplate can currently be run by any linked player, not just staff — it will bulk-add categories and products to your Normal shop up to the usual 10/20 caps. Until this is tightened, keep an eye on your Normal shop categories after opening your server, and remove anything unexpected with /eco categoryremove.

Daily Reward Streaks

/eco daily has a 24-hour cooldown. Reclaim within 30 hours of your last claim and your streak continues; wait longer than that and it resets to 1. The payout scales with your streak:

Prerequisites & Good to Know

  • Run /setup server and save Economy Settings at least once before any /eco command will work.
  • Players must link their in-game account before using almost any economy command — see Account Linking.
  • The VIP Shop stays closed to everyone until a VIP Shop Role is set.
  • Kit products only appear in the picker once you've run /kits grab to register your server's kits.
  • Playtime Rewards require an active Canvas Live Players board for that server, set up via /playercount.
  • Claiming a Shop Bag requires the player to be online in-game at that moment.
  • Only Owner/Co-Owner/Head Admin (or Discord Administrator) can set a per-product purchase cap above unlimited, or use Bag Admin tools.
